When I was 14 years old, I did my work experience at a local gym, and managed to bag a part-time job off the back of it. I worked there for 4 years, during which time I met people and built relationships with many a colleague and gym member, which would all play their part in crafting the “grown-up” that I grew into.
One of those very special people was Ali Brown, Co-Founder of Jual Branded Clothing. At the time, as far as I was concerned, Ali was a lovely lady who was juggling running her business, with being a Mum to her daughters Emily and Liv, and wife to her husband Andy, amongst many other commitments! I was always quite impressed with what she had achieved, but fast forward 20+ years and I reconnected with Ali and asked her to work with us on our uniform. At this point, I went from being pretty impressed to utterly in awe of Ali and her achievements.
As a mother, I now understood the gravitas of Ali’s achievements. Ali and I bonded over stories of taking our babies to work. I listened to Ali talk about working from her garage with the girls in their bouncers, stories which I could now fully connect with having been in similar situations on multiple occasions myself with my two children. But to have done what Ali did in the time that she did it really is next level!
Ali is the OG Mum Boss and has grown a business which now works internationally with suppliers and a number of huge brands such as The Newt, National Grid, Brewers Decorating and so many wonderful businesses. Jual is absolutely flying, and we are so proud to be able to work with another female-led, local business to ensure excellence in all that we do.
Ali’s inspiration doesn’t stop there though. Whilst working with her on our most recent uniform re-design, she said “have you ever thought of selling these t-shirts.” If anyone knows a thing or two about merch that works – it’s Ali! So, with that we got straight onto designing our own line of merchandise, and working with Ali on it has been an absolute ride!
Now that our staff are all decked out in their new uniforms, we’ve just launched our first range of t-shirts and sweatshirts in store at Bath, with tote bags and beanies all in the pipeline. We’re excited to expand the offer and get our online store up and running!
